About me

relationship counsellor manchester, relationship counselling near me, relationship counselling Cheshire, relationship counselling Didsbury, relationship counselling manchester, private relationship counselling manchester, couples therapy, couples counselling manchester, couple counselling Cheshire, couples therapy manchester, couples counselling near me, couples therapy Cheshire, couples therapy DidsburyI was a Biomedical Scientist in Haematology for 27 years and still hold a Fellowship of The Institute of Biomedical Sciences.

I left Haematology to run my own business delivering commercial and financial awareness training. For over 10 years I worked with FTSE100 companies, global organisations and half of the top 50 UK law firms.

At that time I encountered my own personal problems so I sought the help and support of a psychotherapist. I found therapy powerfully positive and potent.

I was so grateful for my own experience of therapy that I wanted to “give something back” to the community. I’ve always had a particular personal interest in Suicide and the impact of suicide so I trained as a Samaritan listener and became a trustee of the Manchester and Salford Samaritans.

I then retrained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy.

I hold a diploma in Advanced Clinical Psychotherapy and am a member of UK Association of Transactional Analysis (UKATA) and The European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA). I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

I provided psychotherapy at The Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy Low Cost clinic, and at The Creative Living Centre, a mental health charity in North Manchester.

I sit on The Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy Research Committee and the Manchester Transactional Analysis  Conference Committee (MANTAC).

I completed research on the impact of menopause and the challenges women face in mid-life. I run women’s mid-life support groups which provides a safe confidential space to explore experiences, thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a supportive and nourishing way. If you’d like to join a group email me at sandraburlace@psychotherapymanchester.co.uk

I delivered workshops at the UKATA National Conference in 2017 and 2015.

I deliver regular training on Mindfulness and Psychological Self Care.

I have recently:

  • participated in regional Psychotherapy Conferences in Cumbria, Manchester and Edinburgh
  • attended a Working with Couples course
  • gained a certificate in Bereavement & Moving On
  • completed a certificate in CBT
  • attended a Redecision Therapy training course
  • completed intensive training in Executive Coaching at a Transactional Analysis Corporate Coaching centre
  • gained a certificate in STORM training (Suicide prevention, self-harm mitigation and suicide postvention)

I’ve experienced difficult times in my own life and know the value of talking to a skilled therapist.

I’m committed to providing the insight, tools and support needed to help you make the changes you want to make.
