Anxiety
Everyone gets anxious and worried about things from time to time.
We respond to worries and anxieties with a flight, fight or freeze response…and thats normal.
However sometimes anxiety can escalate for no apparent reason which leave us questioning our health and our sanity.
You’re not going mad…you are experiencing the psychological and physical impacts of anxiety.
Your body will be responding with sensations such as:
- problems sleeping
- stomach churning and feeling sick
- headaches and feeling dizzy
- pins and needles
- muscle aches and pains
- changes in your breathing
- sweating or hot flushes
- thumping sensation in the chest
- panic attacks
You are likely to:
- feel tense and on edge
- have a sense of dread
- feel that other people are looking at you
- dwell on negative experiences, or keep thinking about a situation over and over again
- have a sense of restless and not being able to concentrate
Ongoing anxiety has a negative impact on health and well-being.
It can prevent us functioning and interfere with relationships with our family and friends.
Anxiety therapy and counselling helps you manage your anxiety better and teaches you to enjoy the present rather than living in the past or worrying about the future.
Manchester psychotherapy and counselling will support you through this difficult time.
